I'm on a Winning Streak!!! RECAP of the BYOB Retreat
Everyone wants to win in life right? When you are winning it feels good. You may have accomplished a long sought-after goal that you’ve been working on or closed on a solid deal or opportunity that has you jumping for joy! Whatever that winning moment is, your adrenaline is rushing and in some instances, you feel on top of the world. No one can stop you!
Winning means different things for different people. However, in this post, I’m going to share with you what it means for ME to be on a winning streak.
My own personal interpretation of wining is making a conscious decision to get out of my own way to get “it” done! It means I’m not worried about immediate gratification. Winning means that I realize hard work and discipline will create a compound effect, eventually leading to a level of momentum that is beyond my belief. To me, winning means that I am willing to go through the tough times, the ebbs and flows and the “oh shit “moments in order to eventually make it to the “other side”. Winning means I am able to be unapologetically genuine and authentic with who I am. It means that regardless of what I may have convinced myself of over the years, believing I am enough will attract the abundance I deserve. Winning means that i will say NO to things and people that do not serve me as they should. Lastly, winning mean that I will say YES to myself even if I don’t know how I will get from point A to point B. So where did this thoughtful spark of being on a winning streak come from?
Memorial day weekend, I had the pleasure of being in the presence of over 2000+ creators at the BYOB Retreat in Atalanta. It was the first conference I attended solely for the purpose of growing and strategizing my business. My mind was BLOWN by the content, the presenters and the overall energy of the weekend. Everyone there had one thing in common. We were ready to take our business to the next level! (whatever that meant for each individual person).
I am still on an intellectual high from the experience and I made a promise to myself that the readjustment in mindset and belief of what I have to offer will remain a priority. I’m betting on myself because, why not? My work is purposed and has been divinely inspired. Who am I to not be obedient?
The best thing about the conference (outside of the content and the dope people ) was experiencing it with my niece Shawnny who is an entrepreneur as well. We both saw numerous fellow entrepreneurs and influencers that we admire (who I must admit were EXTREMELY down to earth and genuine) and they were eager to pour into every single soul there.
So you’re probably wondering “okay so what made the conference so amazing?” Well allow me to explain a few reasons:
There were THOUSANDS of entrepreneurs and creators of color in one location all looking to grow their business(es). Yes, I said that in the beginning of this post, but that deserves a pause, church clap and standing ovation! You had to be in the space to really understand the synergy that happened. Be there next year to experience it first hand!
The presenters were extremely knowledgable and were not hesitant to share the tips that got them to the level of success that are currently experiencing. They were down to earth and reiterated numerous times that they invested LOTS of time and energy into their business to get to where they are currently. Long story short, GRIND OUT!
The variety of products being sold was great. There were new, established and growing businesses all there to gain the exposure they worked hard to get. I made it a goal to support 10 black owned businesses while I was at the conference. I supported 5 onsite, but I plan to follow through with this commitment . P.S. I will be back to share a bit about each company that I supported.
The sessions were ALL OF THAT AND MORE! I told a few people that my brain hurt so good and that was no lie. P.S. again - I’ll be back to highlight the sessions I attended the the major takeaways.
Karen Civil. Do I need to say anymore? This woman is a powerhouse and was a real as they get! If you don’t know who she is, head on over to Google to find out!
I could go on and on, but I’ll stop there. Meet me back here for a continuation of the BYOB experience.
Until next time, do something that scares the shit out of you, because guess what? The reasons you’ve convinced yourself of otherwise are not true!
P.S. Check out a few of my pics from the conference. Can you spot the winning glow?
